mr. mom

the other shoe finally dropped. i got laid off last thursday -- there was no new design and building work coming in, and they decided they'd rather not pay me to not work than pay me to not work. kelli's going to start working full-time again, we're calling off the housing search for now, and i'm going to be a stay-at-home dad. mr. mom. i've never been laid off before, so i was surprised to find i was more excited than bitter.

i feel great about what this means for me -- it's daunting to take over this role, but mostly fantastic that i'll get to spend my days with max at such a fun age. he's walking, running, and climbing everywhere; he talks, questions, sings, clowns; he's alternately wild and sweet, and then wild again. this blog maybe doesn't do justice to every side of his developing personality -- we tend to use photos that aren't blurry, and those tend to be the ones that are taken during his quiet moments. i'll do my best to at least convey a better impression in future posts in this blog. i'm now reporting on location.
